An area that has provided a fair amount of work over the years, just lately I have dealt with a rat infestation to the rear of a large building converted to flats. The car park, garden and communal bin area had clear evidence of rat burrows and runs and teeth marks to the plastic lids of the large communal bins.

The problem here had been caused by the overspill of refuge around the bins, rats had quickly found this food store and set-up home close to it.

I placed a good grain based rodenticide in approved containers, designed to be tamper proof and not to give access to non target animals. These were checked and replenished, the rats took the bait readily, they usually do take a full feed quickly unless they are frightened and cautious of any new objects or used to a plentiful supply of a food they can find daily, usually the contents of bird tables.

After a few takes of poison, activity stopped, the containers were cleared away and all was made safe.
